Marzipan Acorns

Ingredients
(Makes approximately 16)
 
  • 125g (4 oz) white marzipan
  • green food colouring
  • 25g (1 oz) good quality plain chocolate such as Bourneville
  • chocolate vermicelli

Method

  1. Place a sheet of greaseproof paper on a baking sheet.
  2. If the marzipan is hard, knead it with your fingers a bit until it softens.
  3. Add tiny drops of green colouring to the marzipan until it is coloured a pale green.
  4. Divide the marzipan into 16 pieces and roll each piece into an oval shape to look like an acorn.
  5. Melt the chocolate in a bowl over a small pan of simmering water.
  6. Holding one end of each acorn, carefully dip it into the melted chocolate so that one half is covered. Now dip the chocolate end into the vermicelli.
  7. Place each acorn on the greaseproof paper and leave to set.
