The Island Day Nursery Newport - facilities and equipment

The Island Day Nursery was registered with Ofsted in March 2006. It grew from an existing nursery facility that had been operating for over 10 years and had reached a point of needing new care and attention. The new owners now operate a ‘hands on’ approach and have undertaken a continuing refurbishment programme on the premises, equipment and furnishings in the nursery.

A new kitchen has been fitted, the children's toilets, wash rooms, laundry areas and dining areas have been upgraded; the office and staff rooms have been re-vamped to ensure better staff working conditions and some layout changes within the nusery itself have taken place to provide the children with more activity space.

In January 2009 we opened a new wing of the nursery and ofsted have given new approval to increase the nursery's capacity to 102 children.

The under 2's now have their own separate nursery entrance and the older children now have greater flexibility in the way we operate the pre-school and out of school clubs.

Planning approval has been given to create an outside play area behind the nursery, this work is imminent.

New Gymkids children's gym equipment has been introduced, along with new primary coloured tables, chairs and room dividers
