Free places for 3 - 4 year olds Nursery Education Grant - How this works

At age three children move to the Shooting Stars pre-school group. In the first term after their third birthday your child is entitled to begin receiving the Nursery Education Grant.
They are entitled to a maximum fee support of 12.5 hours per week term time only.
If you are interested to see how we apply this fee support, you will see a worked example in our prospectus.

GROUP SIZES

Our Nursery is a 30 place setting divided into three groups, with flexibility on the group sizes. In the Little Stars group (0 - 2 yrs) the ratio is one member of staff to 3 children. The Rising Stars (2-3 yrs) ratio is one member of staff to four children and Shooting Stars (3+ yrs) 1 member of staff to 8 children.

We operate a key person system, which means your child is allocated to a member of staff who is responsible for their well being on a daily basis and ensures that information about your child is exchanged easily with you.

Facilities

The Island Day Nursery & Creche was registered with Ofsted in March 2008.

The whole setting is brand new with a flexible play area adaptable to the different age groups, a messy play area, an enclosed outdoor play area attached to the main play room, a separate sleep area, a fitted kitchen, children's toilets, laundry areas and dining area. These areas are resourced with toys, activities and equipment suitable for children aged from birth to eight years and covering the areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage, which was introduced into all nurseries and schools in September 2008.

We also have the additional benefits provided from Gurnard Pines, where we are situated, including free access to their newly built soft play area Monkey Mansion, an outdoor swing park, outdoor paddling pool in the summer season, and woodland walks. Children can also benefit from ballet and music sessions which are held within the nursery by outside tutors.
