Children in Need

The Island Day Nurseries and Pre-schools at Brading, St Helens, Newport and Sandown between them raised just under £250 for Children in Need this year. Well done to everyone for dressing up and having their faces painted. Thanks to the parents and staff who made donations.

Leavers for school have celebrations

We have this week held graduation days in both the Sandown and Newport pre-schools for the 41 children that are this year leaving to go to Primary School in September. At both settings each child received a certificate and a book as a memento of their time in our care. Next Wednesday 27th July a similar ceremony will take place at The Island-Little Herons, our Wootton Pre-school

Yar Valley Pre-Schools (Brading and St Helens)

The Yar Valley Pre-Schools at both Brading and St Helens Primary Schools have now both been registered by Ofsted.
For the last two weeks we have provided a temporary service at Brading for parents wishing to take advantage of the 30 hours free place funding for any 3 and 4 year old children that were unable to use it, due to the early closure of Stepping Stones.
We are on schedule to fully open both Pre-School sites from 5th September.

Little Herons Childcare has joined The Island Day Nursery Group

Little Herons Pre-school and Nursery at Wootton Community Primary School became part of The Island Day Nursery Ltd's group of childcare settings on the 1st June.
All the management and staff team joined our company and this ensured seamless continuity of care for the children who are going there now and for those joining the pre-school this summer
The new registered name is:
THE ISLAND - LITTLE HERONS CHILDCARE

Ofsted rates Sandown Nursery as 'Outstanding'

On 18th April 2011 The Island - Hope Childcare in Sandown was inspected by Ofsted and we are very pleased to be able to announce that they awarded a rating of 'Outstanding' which is the highest possible grade that can be given.
We are very pleased for the staff team there who were commended by The Inspector for their strong teamwork and support for each other when looking after the children in our care. The full report will shortly be published on the Ofsted website www.ofsted.gov..uk

New School Partnerships Announced

The Governors of the Yar Valley Federation of St Helens and Brading C of E Primary schools are to partner with The Island Day Nursery. This new partnership will enable the schools to deliver pre-school provision, breakfast clubs and after-school club facilities from September 2011.
Pat Redfern, Chair of the Governing Body, said "As partners, we aim to provide the best educational opportunities for all children in our area by providing wider educational opportunities, experiences and extended services within the East Wight district. We will ensure that 'The Yar Valley Schools' lie at the heart of the community by engendering a life-long love of learning for all."
