Grow a plant

You will need:
  • Some orange, lemon or grapefruit pips
  • Some flowerpots
  • Fine soil from the garden, potting compost or a mixture of both

This is what you do:

  1. Put a few little stones in the bottom of each flowerpot for drainage.
  2. Fill the pots with compost (John Innes is the best).
  3. Push 3 or 4 pips into each pot, about ½" down.
  4. Keep the pots watered and in a light, warm room.
  5. When the seedlings come up, remove all but the strongest one in each pot. As these grow they may have to be replanted into a larger pot.

Note - these plants won't grow any fruit, but they will make extremely attractive indoor plants. Remember to feed occasionally and water regularly. They will make good presents for plant lovers.
