Hope Childcare Sandown

Sandown News – November 2009

Welcome to all new families who have joined our setting this term. We hope that you and your child/ren are enjoying all that is on offer here.

Your child will have been allocated a key person who will communicate with you and share important moments in your child’s play, learning and development. Please share with them any important events or happenings to enable them to care for them in the best way.

We welcome Reece Annis to our staff team as “Chef”. Julia sadly had to leave for pastures new. Reece has catering qualifications and we are already enjoying the wonderful recipes he is producing! Children also enjoy having another positive male role model.

The weather has allowed us to continue making trips to the park, pond and beach. The little ones like to help to feed the ducks.

Pre Schoolers have had a busy half term which has included taking part in Harvest Praise and wrapping shoe boxes for children who are less fortunate than themselves. The following table shows some of what they will be doing during the next half term from November to Christmas.

The Pre School garden is now benefiting from a sun/rain shield that has been installed. This will give some protection from the elements and encourage more outdoor play.
Staff have attended training which continually helps them to understand how to raise standards in their work by re looking at the ways in which some activities are presented.
Three staff, at different times take on the role of Wendy Whistler as they promote Magical Musical Moments (Mondays). Music and stories are a good focus for encouraging language and communication. During the week we also welcome Maggie from Caterpillar Music (Wednesdays). Nicky is developing stories with puppets (Fridays) and on alternate Thursdays we will be taking part in Rhyme Time at the library.
The highlight of last week was having Kris Thon the photographer in the setting to take photographs. We are eagerly waiting the proofs, but would like to thank Kris for his patience and for the variety of his work.

If you have enjoyed reading the above and are not yet a part of the group – please give me a call on 408392 to arrange a visit.
