This summer at Gurnard Pines

Maggie from Caterpillar Music is running a FREE Demonstration Class on Monday 20th July 2009 at 11:20am, everyone is welcome. If you wish to come along please book your space with the Nursery and Crèche. New Caterpillar Music Classes will be starting at the Gurnard Pines Nursery in September 2009. Classes will be run by Maggie weekly on Monday’s at 11:20am, and cost £3.00 per a class. We have already started taking bookings, if you would like further information or to book your child’s place please call on (01983) 294930. Caterpillar Music Classes are great fun and learning for Babies and Young Children. Everyone is welcome to join the music class at Gurnard, your child does not have to attend at the nursery, as you can book and come with your child.

We hope to start Ballet Classes in September 2009 at Gurnard Pines, due to several parent enquiries. Classes will be held weekly with a good local ballet teacher; we hope to run two groups an infant class and a junior class. Classes will cost £3.50 per a class, or you can benefit from a £20.00 offer card for 6 ballet sessions. Please call the Gurnard Nursery and Pre-school for further information or to book your space.

The Island Holiday Club at Gurnard Pines will be running for about 8 weeks this year, hopefully this should cover all schools summer holiday period across the island. The club will be running from the 9th July 2009 to 3rd September 2009. There is a fun packed programme planned this summer, making the most of all great facilities around the Gurnard Pines Resort. You do not have to be a member of Gurnard Pines for your children to join the holiday club; the club is open to all children from 4 to 8 years (we can take a few children in the holiday club at 3 years if they are ready for more adventure!). Holiday Club Activities includes; swimming inside and outside, tennis games, art and craft sessions, group games around the resort, beach trips, cooking activities, picnics, access daily to Monkey Mansion, all included in the good value holiday club prices. Pre-school sessions and funding is available at the Gurnard Pines Nursery and Pre-School, for children aged 3 and 4 years old. It is great to see that we have a lovely group of children coming to us for Pre-school in September 2009. Remember that you are entitled to 12.5 hours funding! If you require any further information or advice about your free pre-school education come and speak to us at the nursery office.

Other news…

We have been making the most of the lovely weather at Gurnard recently, and the children have enjoyed lots of outside activities with water and jelly play in the garden, and lots of nature walks! We will continue to explore the summer season during July and August, but during July the pre-school children will be exploring the Jungle! Keep a look out for the new Jungle display they will be creating in the wet area over the summer.

I expect most of our regular families who book permanent sessions at the Gurnard Nursery and Pre-School have noticed lots of new faces, as we have started to get much busier over the summer. It is lovely to see the children making new friends. Sadly this year we have to say good bye to 4 pre-school children leaving this year to go on to big school. All the nursery staff at Gurnard wishes them lots of luck, and we hope to see most of them back for the Holiday clubs! We have a much bigger group of pre-school children in September 2009, and lots of fun activities planned for your older children. If you require extra or different sessions over the summer or for in September 2009, please let us know your needs in the office as soon as possible, as we are taking lots of new bookings for September now. Now we are getting much busier over the summer season, it is important that you book short crèche sessions in advance, as this helps guarantee you a space for when you need it, and we can make sure we have the right number of staff to be able to take the extra children during the day.
