New Childcare Funding
Friday, 17th March 2023
The new childcare funding, for parents in England, announced in the Spring Budget on 15th March 2023, is proposed to be introduced in stages:
- All working parents of two-year-olds will get 15 hours of funded childcare care from April 2024,
- All working parents of children from nine months will get 15 hours funded childcare from September 2024
- All eligible working parents of children from nine months up to leaving pre-school for reception class will get 30 hours funded childcare from September 2025.
Ratios
Another area that the government is changing from September 2023, is the ratio system. Currently one adult can look after four children of two years of age. However, this will change from one member of staff for every four children, to one to five - to align with Scotland and other countries.
